This is a significant decrease from the 33% who wanted to return to work in early April 2020. (The responses came from over 750,00 employees from over 100 companies worldwide, representing every major industry.)

At the same time span, the percentage of positive replies to “My remote work environment enables me to work productively” increased from 86% to nearly 100%.

Workers with families have had over a year to polish the subtleties of working successfully with children and a significant other. In essence, they are not eager to change their new working style.

Do you have any vulnerable persons in your home, such as elderly parents?

The stronger your case for working from home, the more likely your company will grant your request. You can reach an agreement with your employer. You might be able to get more remote days than you otherwise would.

Describe how working from home will benefit your company.

Once you’ve decided what you want to negotiate, consider how satisfying your wants will benefit your company.

Tell your company how you’ve improved your work-life balance by having more space to handle workflow schedules and critical meetings while accommodating caregiving duties and family time, which is especially crucial during a public health crisis.

For example, suppose you’ve been working from home for three months and it’s improved your productivity.  Start keeping track of your productivity, start collecting data.

Explain that eliminating the requirement to get ready and commute to work will allow you to work on your employment goals for an additional two hours every day.

Next, inform your company that you will not require office space, which will allow them to satisfy the safety needs of other employees.

Collect all of this information, take notes, and prepare to present your argument.

Negotiate With Your Boss

Set up a meeting with your manager assuming you’ve developed a viable plan that benefits both you and your employer. Remember that your boss is responsible for enforcing any existing company policies as well as ensuring fairness and uniformity across his or her department and other company departments.
